True weight loss, muscle building, fitness and health aren’t achieved through 1 hour per day, or 2–7 hours per week of visiting a gym. If you were to exercise 7 hours per week, which is a lot more than the majority of our modern day society, there is still 161 hours that impact your wellbeing. By simply ‘crunching’ the numbers alone it is evident that non-gym/non-workout time has 23 times more influence on your health goals.

The latest statistics’ from the Health Survey for England (HSE) carried out in 2009 showed that 61.3% of adults (aged 16 or over) and 28.3% of children (aged 2 to 10) in England were overweight or obese. This research illustrates that how we LIVE our lives is putting us at risk of developing chronic disease. Not only this but it stops people from truly understanding how good, energetic and vital life can be.

One of my mentors discusses it as comparing his body to a sports car. Where it’s about performance… when you eat well and exercise effectively you perform better and as a result feel better. You can lift heavier things, you don’t get as tired, and you wake up in the morning with a spring in your step. Just as if you drive a high performance vehicle you could go that extra mile or race up a hill with ease… it gives you confidence and a feeling of power.

dynobandThe concept of Dynobands originated in hospitals for use in rehabilitation, to strengthen and repair muscles after injury. The equipment has now been developed further to produce a fitness and training aid to enhance individuals appearance and physical performance. These extremely versatile resistance bands allow us to do all weights exercises anywhere. The added benefit is that the bands work your muscle slightly differently than free weights – providing increased tense at different places through the range of motion.


 Foam Rollers:

Foam rollers should be apart of every active persons life. By using a foam roller the user is performing Self-Myofascial Release or a form of Trigger Point Therapy. These tools are excellent for pre-workout preparation and great when incorporated into flexibility training.

The science states that by applying external pressure to tight or ‘knotted’ muscles that rpesssure stimulates receptors located throughout the muscle, fascia (muscle sheath) and connective tissue of the human movement system to override the dysfunctional, yet protective, mechanism that is causing the tightness or potential injury cycle.
